My Association

On Friday November 22 1963 in Dallas, Texas at 12:30 pm in Dealy Plaza I was assassinated. I was driving with my wife Jacquwlin when multiple gun shots were fired at me. My assassination was by Lee Harvery Oswaol an employee of the Texas School Book Depository who himself was murdered before he could stand trial. One government investigation concluding that Oswald acted alone and another concluding he acted with at least one other person.

Cuban Missile Crisis

The Cuban missile crisis began on October 14, 1962. This is during the Cold War and Cuba had deals with Europe and we had deals with Turkey. Cuba was putting in some nuclear weapons about 90 miles off the shores of Florida. This was very bad because if Europe wanted to attack us they had a direct shot at us. But then at the same time they were in the same situation with us. We have nuclear weapons pointing at them.

I made a compromise with Europe, if you take down your missiles in Cuba we will take down our missiles in Turkey. It was nearly successful. But in mid October, with the Soviet tankers still enroute, American U-2 spy planes and CIA photo analysts detected several Medium Range Ballistic Missiles (MRBMs) on Cuban soil, their sites still under construction. In the weeks that followed, we both stood at the edge of nuclear holocaust. Never before in history has the world come closer to a general nuclear war.

Vietnam

I was very involved with the Vietnam War while I was president. I sent many advisors and troops to Vietnam during my time. while I was in office, I largely increased the amount of soldiers in Vietnam from 800, to around 16300. Some historians say that the outcome of the war could have changed if I served my full time in office.

I had plans of pulling troops out of Vietnam if I had been re-elected as president in 1964, there was much controversy on whether or not I was going to, but before anything could be set, I was assassinated. The following President, Lyndon B. Johnson, reversed my plan to withdraw 1,000 personnel on November 26, 1963.

Peace Corps

Early in my presidency, I asked Congress to make the Peace Corps. Through this program, Americans can volunteer to help under developed countries. they can help with education, farming, health care, and construction. This helps people and countries create peaceful relationships between each other.

Space Program

During my presidency, I found that our national space program was very important toward our country's growth. With our "space race" against Russia, I was eager to put the first man on the moon. I thought that no matter how costly or how dangerous, we must do all we can to achieve our goal of going to space. Soon after my speech at a joint session of congress on September 12, 1962, I went to Rice University and spoke more about our goal to send a man to the moon and back. I mentioned how we don't do things like sending a man into space because they are easy, but because it gives us a challenge.
