During my presidency, I found that our national space program was very important toward our country's growth. With our "space race" against Russia, I was eager to put the first man on the moon. I thought that no matter how costly or how dangerous, we must do all we can to achieve our goal of going to space. Soon after my speech at a joint session of congress on September 12, 1962, I went to Rice University and spoke more about our goal to send a man to the moon and back. I mentioned how we don't do things like sending a man into space because they are easy, but because it gives us a challenge.

Hello, My name is Ronald Reagan and I was the 40th President of the United States of America. After reading about your space program at wikipedia.com it is amazing how fast you could put a man on the moon from the time the airplane was invented, in the early century. You must have recieved lots of critisim from sceptics, but I think it was the right choice. I do agree that we should do actions that challenge this country.
